Synopsis |
The Carrier Grade Linux Working Group has been chartered by the Open Source Development Lab to enhance the Linux operating system to achieve an open source platform that is highly available, secure, scalable and easily maintained.
The carrier-grade enhancements to the Linux operating system will be contributed to the standard Linux kernel. A CGL platform will contain the standard Linux kernel, kernel patches, kernel modules and modified libraries. The CGL Working Group has identified eight areas in which enhancements may be required, including high availability
enhancements, security enhancements, serviceability enhancements,OAM&P enhancements, performance and scalability enhancements, standards, hardware interfaces and tools.
