Synopsis |
the talk will consider, in general, the use of opensource programs in developing an object oriented database for gene data, starting with python through zope through xml parsing and various libraries and programs that have helped us along the way. the talk will then focus on python, its features, its advantages in doing what we are doing. we will then look at zope, the benefits of a heirarchical model for our database .. then look at what we have done in zope ... what we intend to do, and why we think zope holds the key to the future. we will then look at the triumph of the opensource culture in our work.
