Memory Management in the Linux Kernel can be discussed with respect to Physical and Virtual abstraction of the address space.
Physical Abstraction of the Address space
is represented through "struct page", and virtual abstraction of the Address Space through "struct vm_area_struct" in the kernel. Page tables Management, Copy on Write Pages,mmap and munmap mechanisms,along with a brief overview of the Slab Cache would be discussed with respect to the code base of 2.4.0 Linux Kernel on an ix86.(32 bit)
