Jabber is the open source answer to proprietory Instant Messenger systems.
While most people would use the Jabber system in its most basic form, i.e. as an Instant Messenger system, the true power of Jabber lies int is extensibility.
This talk will describe how this is done, and shows practical examples of interfacing the Jabber architecture with various standard (and not so standard) messaging systems and applications.

| Speaker Profile |
Currently a final year engineering student at the PES Institute of Technology, Mrinal Kalakrishnan has been an avid Linux user since 1996. He has written a number of technical articles covering various Linux-related topics for PC Quest, a leading computer publication in India. He has delivered several talks at the BLUG, and has also given talks about "Linux in Robotics" and "Multimedia under Linux" in the LB/2002 and LB/2001 conferences respectively. In his spare time, he contributes to opensource software, loves programming robots, and is also a musician. |
