Synopsis |
Government and corporations have begun successfully deploying Linux desktops and displacing expensive and troublesome Windows machines. We are in the early stages of a mass movement toward free, inexpensive desktop systems in large and medium-sized organizations. This talk will address who is doing this, how they are doing this, and whether you can join the ranks of the happy Linux desktop user.

A long-time open source developer, Nat Friedman is a developer of the GNOME Foundation's proposal and charter and has made significant contributions to the development of the Bonobo object model, the GNOME architecture for creating reusable software components and compound documents. Both a hacker and an entrepreneur since childhood, Nat's dynamic personality has made him a natural leader and an important spokesperson for the Free Software movement. Nat earned bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and in Computer Science at MIT.
