About 20 schools in Goa have been using Linux in a networked (LTSP) environment for more than a year now. They have also been experementing with the FREEDUC CD. These schools also use MS Windows on some of their machines. Pros and cons of using Linux in schools based on our experience in these schools.
We are in the process of networking these schools together by setting up Intranet/Internet site for these schools where they can mirror the sites of other schools for offline browsing by the students/staff. This will be used also to setup a forum for the teachers to share their ideas, lesson plans... with each other.
Other activities working or planned at these schools will also be presented. |

Have been working with open source software since 1995. Also have been involved with getting computers into schools since 1996.
Was involved in createing a distro for easy installation in the schools in Goa. |
